These players were categorized as Chess Icons, Superstars, and Prodigies, with notable names such as Magnus Carlsen, Viswanathan Anand, Ian Nepomniachtchi, Levon Aronian, and Maxime Vachier-Lagrave leading the pack.

The Global Chess League featured six teams, each composed of six players. The teams included one Icon player, two male players, two female players, and one prodigy player born in 2002 or later.
